Mechanical abrasion:
The method of repair is about the same as that of a vernier caliper's.
But be careful to avoid any forceful striking, straightening or
bending. The striking, straightening or bending should done after
the electronic parts have been taken apart. |
| How do I change
the battery in my caliper? ^Top
of Page |
Changing the battery in your caliper is quick and easy. First,
you must remove the battery cover. On most of our Digital Calipers,
the battery cover is located on the bottom front of the display
casing. The cover has grooves, and a small arrow on it. Simply push
lightly on the cover with your thumb, while pulling downward, and
the cover should come off.
Damp Proof, and Waterproof Calipers - The battery casing
can be removed by pushing down with your thumb on the round cover,
and rotating it to the left.
Aluminum Cased Caliper - The battery cover is held
in place with 2 screws. Use a phillips head screw driver to remove
them.
After the battery cover has been removed, tip the caliper forward
and the old battery should fall out. *Note which direction
the battery was facing. The new battery should be placed ring side
down, with letters facing up. Then replace the cover, and
your caliper should be fully functional. |
| What does "Damp
Proof" really mean? ^Top
of Page |
Our Damp Proof Calipers have a rating of IP54. But what does
that really mean? It means you can shoot a jet of water at the calipers
from any direction for several minutes without compromising the
function of the caliper. Obviously, it doesn't mean you can measure
under the full force of a fire hydrant for weeks on end. It's not
going to work. But in the kind of environment where there's mist
in the air, such as measuring piscine dimensions aboard a fishing
vessel, the caliper will function flawlessly. |
| Can I upload information
from my caliper to my computer? ^Top
of Page |
| Most of our digital calipers have a data port (SPC) for data output.
The port can be seen by removing a small cap on the slider (readout
head) and can be connected with a PC or a printer for data processing
or for the printing of analytical charts of the measured figures;
via a special cable. |
